Welcome to Bellwether Harbor!
Bellwether Harbor Animal Shelter enters its 23rd year serving the Fremont and West Michigan communities in 2024 and we are proud to roll out new changes geared toward improvement. We have heard our community’s concerns and are committed to positive change.
Our Commitment to Improvement in 2024
- Animal Welfare: We are reviewing our policies to reduce stress on our animals and staff, and finding ways to improve their overall well-being.
- Environmental Responsibility: We are partnering with Consumers Energy to evaluate and improve our energy use and reduce our impact on the local energy grid.
- Community Accessibility: We are listening to your concerns and have extended our open hours and enhanced our policies to be more accessible to you and your neighbors.
- Adoption and Volunteering: We are updating our policies internally to remove barriers and streamline the processes for both adoptions and volunteering.
- Partnerships: We are enhancing our collaboration with our local county shelter.
- Communication: We are improving our public communication and updating our website to ensure it is accessible, easy to navigate, and contains relevant information.
Our Need for Community Support
These changes are part of our ongoing effort to better serve our animals and our community. However, we cannot do it alone. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we rely on your support.
How You Can Help
- Donate: Every dollar counts and helps us continue to accomplish our mission.
- Sponsor: We have several sponsorship levels available, each offering unique benefits. Please contact us for more details on annual shelter sponsorships beginning at $500.
- Volunteer: Your time and effort can make a significant difference. Join us in caring for our animals and supporting our operations. Ask for a volunteer application today.
